Shortly after 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 25, the threat of a school shooting was air-dropped into the phones of three students in one classroom at Walkersville High School, according to the sheriff’s office.

In response, school officials say that two classrooms were placed into a “hold status,” which involves all students and staff to remain in place while the threat was investigated.

Sheriff’s deputies and Frederick County Public School administrators conducted an investigation into the threat, swept the classrooms, and declared that “there is no indication the threat is credible.”

School officials and the sheriff’s office will be conducting separate investigations, “and if warranted, charges will be issued,” according to authorities.
